The Austrains NR & 44 Class -  8 pin NMRA plug is wired incorrectly and will destroy any decoder that is installed.
The plug should be rewired to the NMRA standards, refer diagram below.

Pin 1 in loco is usually marked by a chamfer, triangle or dot
