Train-O-rams 47 SOUND INSTALLATION
MFx 47 kit

Remove body from engine as described in instructions supplied by Train-O-rama, this involves squeezing the sides and shaking the locomotive vertically. You may have to assist the body by once the shell has created a gap between shell and running boards by levering the shell upwards from both sides. Though not difficult, extreme care must be exercised, do not squeeze on the mesh grills located at the rear of the locomotive.

Once the body is removed
remove the NMRA plug [A] and locate the four screws [C] on the main board, remove, place too one side as we will be reinstalling them.

Remove the existing speaker system
[B] located at the rear of the locomotive, remove all the brackets and the speaker, and place to one side they will not be reused.

Apply approx 25 mm of electrical tape across the centre of the opening left by removal of the speaker. [optional]
Trim excess heat shrink off the rear of the LokSound decoder along the rear of its PCB board [A] using a sharp single edge blade,

Locate the brown speaker wires [B] on the decoder and mark one at both ends with a black felt tip pen, then cut both speaker wires about their centre. At the rear of the locomotive [old speaker end] install the speaker wire's on the decoder by inserting thru the underside existing two speaker lugs located on the main board, reinstall the two plastic retainers and the four retaining screws for the main board. Use a multi meter to determine which pin has the wire with the black mark attached to it, note this and align plug to suit at assembly

Place decoder in the original speaker location with the rear located under the light bracket, tape down with a piece of electrical tape 40 mm long across the decoders centre. Plug the NMRA [C] plug into the board with the orange pin being aligned with the socket marked P1 on the main board, carefully loop the surplus wire across the board and run  a loop of tape [E] run around the underside of the board and the wire loom, cut a piece of standard electrical tape in half for this application.

Speaker plug [D] is shown opposite the NMRA plug.

Identify the wire with a black mark and transfer this to the rear of the speaker, then remove both wires from the speaker. Test fit the speaker to the enclosure supplied, once satisfied drill a 2 mm hole from the recess in the side to the interior of the speaker enclosure [A], thread wires thru holes, strip ends, tin and solder onto the speaker. Now mark the wire with the black dot on the speaker at the plug end, we are now ready to fit the speaker.

Remove the speaker and apply a thin bead of sealant around the permitter of the speaker enclosure
[B] they reinstall the speaker pull loom thru, fit the speaker then seal exit of wires, place to one side and allow to dry. Once dry test fit to the roof, remove and trim wires from speaker to allow body to be removed and fit plug fit plug aligning the marked black wires.

At this point we advise placing the locomotive, and speaker on the track and test run by hitting F8 on your DCC system or brining the throttle on a DC system to about 1/3, you will hear the motor start, if so you are ready to begin the final installation.

Apply a small dot of adhesive to the centre of top of the speaker enclosure and refit to the roof and allow to dry.

Once dry reinstall the plug and slide the body over the chassis, make sure all wires are tucked in to avoid fouling the body. A firm press on the top of the body should re engage the lugs but again you may have to assist by levering the side of the running boards out to help. Again NO pressure on the side grills.

The locomotive is now ready to be set to its final address and put into service.
